DETROIT, MI (WKZO AM/FM) – Anthony Mantha is going to be skating for the Washington Capitals for the stretch run.
Washington acquired the Detroit Red Wings’ leading scorer in a blockbuster deal at the NHL trade deadline. Washington sent Richard Panik, Jakub Vrana, and a pair of draft picks to Detroit.
Mantha has 11 goals and 10 assists in 42 games this season. He signed a four-year $22.8 million contract extension with Detroit in November.
The Capitals are in a dogfight with the New York Islanders and Pittsburgh Penguins for first in the NHL East.
With the move, the Red Wings now have a total of 22 draft picks between 2021 and 2022.
