THREE RIVERS, MI (WTVB) – In high school baseball, Coldwater opened their season by splitting a doubleheader at Three Rivers. The Cardinals lost the opener in eight innings 1-0, but came back to win the nightcap 7-2.
The Coldwater J.V. team swept Three Rivers 15-5 and 9-0 at Lowe Field.
Also in baseball, Paw Paw shutout Bronson 10-0.
In softball, Coldwater was swept by Three Rivers 20-1 and 14-7 in their season opening doubleheader. Mia Rzepka homered in the opener. Jayla Foster had three hits in the second game while Alissa Bach had two doubles and Mallory Wilber had a two run double.
Bronson rallied for four runs in the bottom of the seventh as they defeated Centreville 6-5 in the scheduled first game of a doubleheader. Lynsey Smith was the winning pitcher and helped her own cause with a home run. Dakota Smith had three hits and two RBI’s.
The second game was suspended by darkness in the middle of the fourth with Centreville leading 10-5.
Union City dropped both ends of a doubleheader at Harper Creek by scores of 9-5 and 11-8. Hope Austin had two hits and two RBI’s in the first game. Austin and Kayley DeLisle both had two RBI’s in the nightcap.
