COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys track and field team dropped its Interstate 8 Conference opener to Hastings 89-71 Tuesday. The Saxons won in part thanks their sweep of the relay races.
Coldwater’s Dylan Targgart shattered the school record in the shot put with a distance of 64 feet and a half inch. He also won the discus with a distance of 165 feet, nine inches. Coldwater first place finishers were Matt Gipple in the 100, 200 and long jump, Kyle Foulk in the 1,600 and the 3,200 and Dillon Lawhead in the 300 hurdles.
In the girls meet, Coldwater defeated Hastings 85-75. Coldwater’s Kathy Potter won three races as she finished first in the 400, the 800 and the 1,600.
Other first place finishers for Coldwater were Elka Machan in the 3,200, Olivia Foley in the shot put and Ella Budd in the discus. Coldwater won the 400, the 1,600 and the 3,200 relays.
