COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Despite falling behind early, the Coldwater High School girls varsity soccer team rallied back in the second half for a 1-1 tie with Leslie to open the season Thursday.
Leslie got the opening goal with 21:51 left in the first half. The Cardinals then tied the score with 14:58 to play in the game on a penalty kick from Elise Leggett.
Sydney Akers made six saves in goal, as Leslie outshot Coldwater 8-5.
The Lady Cards return to varsity only action Tuesday at Grass Lake.
Clinton 2, Quincy 1
Madison Hinds scored from 30 yards out for the Orioles only goal in their season opening match. Torri Swift made six saves in goal for Quincy. The Orioles had a 12-8 edge in shots.
