COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch District Library Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Library Director Linda Lyshol during their meeting Monday.
The board then appointed Assistant Director John Rucker as interim acting director until a permanent replacement for Lyshol is found.
Lyshol was apparently not happy with some board members as she stated in her letter she was resigning in protest following a Personnel Committee meeting last week.
Lyshol felt she and the majority of the Board Trustees would not be able to resolve their differences, and that the conflicts have affected some board members trust in her.
In a news release issued by the library, Library Board President Benjamin Jewell said they wanted to thank Lyshol “for her positive contributions to the Branch District Library, including the development of our strategic plan and the significant increase in, and popularity of, new programs for teens. We wish her the best in her future endeavors”.
The board will begin interviewing candidates for the director position at the April board meeting.
The Library Board hired Lyshol in June of 2016 after she had served as a library director Ketchikan, Alaska for five years. She was hired after a exhaustive search, a public forum and interviews. She has also worked as a library director in Guthrie, Oklahoma.
