COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Three local women will be honored Friday during the annual Branch County United Way Power of the Purse fundraising event at the Dearth Community Center.
Jan Storrs has been named as the Woman of the Year in Service, while Second Story Marketing co-owners Courtney Dirschell and Hillary Eley will be honored as the Business Women of the Year.
The awards will be presented during the luncheon.
The sold out dinner will be held Friday night.
Numerous local businesses donated purses for the raffles, with each purse containing items valued at over $150.
Last year’s event raised almost $40,000. The proceeds from Power of the Purse go to the Branch County United Way’s Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides early literacy services for nearly 1,200 children.
