COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Board of Public Utilities Board of Directors approved a proposal Tuesday night from Aspen Wireless to provide design services for upgrading the CBPU’s fiber backbone that was installed in 1997.
CBPU Director Jeff Budd said Aspen’s proposal is not to exceed $40,000, as they will identify the bid costs to harden the CBPU’s internal systems, which is the primary concern.
Budd said they want to simplify their delivery of the internet to CBPU customers.
He added in his report that the systems built on 1990’s technology have performed well, but they now require significant upgrades in order to remain secure and reliable.
