COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – It was thought last May that the downtown Coldwater building that used to house the North Woods Coffee Company was going to be the site of Jalisco’s Mexican food products store.
But City Manager Keith Baker told the Downtown Development Authority Board of Directors Tuesday that the owners of Jalisco’s are relocating to the former Salvation Army Thrift Store instead.
Jalisco’s initially bought the North Woods building and still own it but they decided to relocate to the former Salvation Army store when that building became available last July.
Baker said they are marketing the North Woods building for Jalisco’s and they are looking for tenants.
Economic Development Assistant Audrey Tappenden said the owners of Jalisco’s were hoping to have a soft opening in the Starr Block building in a couple of weeks.
Jalisco’s Grocery has been in Coldwater since 2001.
The North Woods, which used to operate in the old J.B. Branch Building, closed almost a year ago.
Tappenden pointed out to the board that at least six downtown buildings changed hands in 2018.
She added they are in the process of updating the list of properties which are available on line.
