COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Downtown Development Authority Board Tuesday morning will be asked to expend $7,000 for an asbestos abatement at the city owned property at 71 and 73 West Chicago. The Richard K. Kerr family donated the building to the city. In turn, the city wants to renovate the building and use it as a downtown economic development incentive to recruit new businesses to downtown Coldwater.
City Manager Keith Baker says in a letter to the DDA board that once asbestos is abated, they would like to complete interior demolition of the second floor to expose any original details and the brick walls as much as possible to provide what he calls a clean slate in which to start with.
