COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police K-9 Dakota has died due to inoperable cancer.
State Police Trooper Jereme Miller was Dakota’s handler for the last five years.
Dakota was an older K-9 officer. He helped track down a suspect in the theft of a purse about a month ago from Snyder’s Laundromat in Coldwater.
32-year old Daniel Walters of Coldwater was eventually found hiding underneath a pile of rubber mats at Poly Green and arrested.
The cancer was found in Dakota’s legs a short time later and a decision was made to put the dog down.
Miller will begin training with another K-9 in the next week.
