COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Honor Credit Union has made a $3,800 donation to the Coldwater Police Department that will pay for Mobile Facial Recognition software.
Michigan State Police are already using the software and Coldwater Police will be using it on a one year pilot basis to see how well it works.
Five members of the department would have access to the software for their cell phones which is designed to help law enforcement locate wanted criminals.
It also can be used to help streamline investigations.
The software technology is tracked.
Coldwater Public Safety Department Deputy Director Joe Scheid says the Mobile Facial Recognition software will only be used during criminal investigation
