STURGIS, MI (WTVB) – The Sturgis Hospital Board of Directors fired their Chief Executive Officer Robert LaBarge during a Monday night meeting.
The move comes after LaBarge executed dramatic cutbacks, which included the elimination of their birthing and hospice centers.
LaBarge’s proposed cuts included the elimination of 60 jobs.
It was a move that made him very unpopular. It even prompted State House Representative Aaron Miller to call for his resignation.
Some of those jobs were saved when he struck a deal with Ascension Borgess to save their Oncology Center.
The reason for his termination was not immediately available.
