COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – With wind chills Monday below zero and even more bitterly cold temperatures predicted for later this week, the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center in Coldwater will be opening at 4:00 p.m. Monday afternoon as a warming center for the community.
According to Kathy Alger, the president of the center’s board of directors, they will remain open as a warming center until temperatures moderate at the end of the week.
The center is looking for volunteers to help staff the warming center 24 hours a day, and food donations are also needed. Among the items needed are coffee, milk, hot cocoa, pancake mix and syrup, carrots, potatoes, and onions.
Donations can be dropped at the Coach Eby Youth and Family Center, at the corner of Clay Street and Chicago Street, Coldwater. To volunteer, call (517)278-5031.
