COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Most of Michigan will receive another fuill blast of winter this week, starting with a clipper system that will bring moderate to heavy snow to the area late tonight into Monday night. Gusty winds will cause blowing and drifting snow, making travel hazardous during the Monday morning and evening commutes.
Record breaking cold is expected Tuesday into Thursday, with high and low temps as low as 0 to 20 below zero. The wind will make it feel even colder, with wind chills ranging from 15 to 45 below zero.
Branch, St. Joseph, Hillsdale and Calhoun Counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory as up to eight inches of snow is expected. Kalamazoo County is under a Winter Storm Warning for six to 10 inches of snow.
Ahead of the storm Monday, many schools in the area called off classes as early as Sunday evening, including Bronson, Union City, Tekonsha, Pansophia Academy, and St. Mary’s Assumption in Bronson. By 5:15 a.m. Monday, Coldwater, Quincy, and St. Charles Borromeo also decided to cancel classes for MOnday.
