COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A display entitled “A Treasure Reborn: The History of Tibbits Opera House” was revealed Thursday night at the Tibbits.
The museum-quality historical display has been created thanks in large part to a $14,000 grant from the Michigan Humanities Council.
The display features the chronological history of Tibbits management and architectural changes to the structure since 1882 as well as how the Tibbits has been the center of arts and culture for Branch County and the surrounding region.
Operations Director Stephanie Burdick pointed out the work by community members to save the Tibbits during the 1960’s after it was almost torn down.
She indicated more information and photos will be added in the future.
The historical exhibit will be semi-permanent, so if you couldn’t make it for the Thursday night reception, you’ll have another chance to see it at upcoming events.
