COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – If Mother Nature cooperates, the Coldwater Cardinals will host the Hastings Saxons this evening in a girls/boys varsity basketball doubleheader at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium as the second half of the Interstate 8 Conference schedule starts.
It will be the first game at home for the Coldwater girls since December 21, 2018. At 7-0, they lead the conference by one game over Marshall and by a game-and-a-half over Jackson Northwest. The Coldwater girls are 10-1 overall.
The Coldwater boys are 6-1 in the conference and are tied for first with Parma Western. The Cardinals are 9-2 overall.
Seven new members of the Coldwater High School Hall of Fame will be inducted in between games of the doubleheader.

Coldwater swept Hastings in the underclassmen boys basketball games Thursday. The JV’s won 45-40 behind 15 points from Brock Thornton, 11 points from Aaron May and 10 points from DeAndre Douglas.
The Cardinals won the freshman game 51-34. Nate Tappenden led Coldwater with 11 points while Jett Galloway had 10 points.
Quincy’s JV boys basketball team defeated Springport 52-37. Coy Clancy led the Orioles with 21 points while Kyler Economou had 16 points and Conner McKnight added 13 points.
Coldwater swept Hastings in the underclassmen girls basketball games at Hastings Thursday. The Cardinals won the JV game 46-28. Mallory Wilber led Coldwater with 13 points. Abby Herman and Allison Miller both grabbed eight rebounds.
Coldwater’s freshman girls basketball team defeated Hastings 37-17 Thursday night. Jayla Foster led Coldwater with 12 points.
Springport defeated Quincy 41-26 in JV girls basketball.

The Coldwater Legg Middle School 8th graders lost to Jackson Northwest 49-16. Coldwater was lead in scoring by Brooklyn Kerry with seven points.
Legg’s 7th Grade A Team fell to Jackson Northwest 42-26. The Lady Cardinals were led by Jaelah Sloan with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The 7th grade B team also lost to Northwest.
