BRONSON, MI (WTVB) – Bronson High School went 5-0 on Saturday and won the Clark Walker Memorial Wrestling Tournament. The Vikings defeated Battle Creek Central 72-12, the Bronson B team 78-0, Centreville 72-9, Lawton 64-17 and Coldwater in the tournament championship match 55-20.
Seven Vikings won all five of their matches. They were Blake Platter, Ben Modert, Craig Tappenden, Isaac Tappenden, Ruger Ranney, Justin Blankenship and Alex Tyer. Going 4-1 were Preston Wronikowski, Brendan Withington, J.C. DePaz and Carson Rose.
Coldwater finished second as they were a last minute addition to the tournament. The Cardinals competed in the Bronson tournament after the bad weather conditions on Saturday morning forced them to scrub their trip to Williamston. The Cardinals won three matches in their pool before they lost to Bronson in the finals. Coldwater defeated Centreville (51-12), Battle Creek Central (58-12) and Lawton (54-11).
Four Cardinals went undefeated on Saturday. They were Hashed Abdullah (103), Zeke Nowicki (130), Carter Hoard (140) and Griffin Olmstead (171).
Three Quincy wrestlers earned medals on Saturday at their Shawn Cockrell Memorial Invitational. Finishing second were Chandler Locke at 171 pounds and Keegan Hoffman at 285 pounds. Gerl Pish finished third at 140 pounds.
