DEKALB COUNTY, IN (WTVB) – A Pleasant Lake, Indiana man is dead after apparaetly falling through the ice on a DeKalb Couty lake Saturday morning.
According to WANE-TV in Ft. Wayne, shortly after 10:00 a.m. Saturday the Hamilton Police Department checked on an unattended portable ice fishing sled at Terry Lake in DeKalb County.
When officers arrived they found evidence that suggested an ice fisherman had fallen through the ice and called emergency crews.
The Angola Fire Department responded in their airboat and soon recovered the body of a victim from the water and took him to shore. DeKalb EMS prounounced him dead at the scene.
The man has since been identified as 45-year-old Robert W. Penland of Pleasant Lake.
