COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater High School boys varsity basketball team bounced back from last Friday’s disappointing loss at Pennfield with a 74-48 thumping of the Harper Creek Beavers Wednesday night at the Coach Floyd Eby Gymnasium.
Gage McGuire led the Cardinals with 24 points and nine rebounds. Dylan Targgart had a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds. Brandon Downs added 15 points. Ethan Crabtree dished out six assists. Damon Beckhusen, Targgart and Austin Santure all had three steals.
Rae’Quan Funches led scored a game-high 31 points for the Beavers.
Coldwater is 8-2 overall and they are tied for first in the Interstate 8 with Parma Western with a 5-1 conference record.
JV— Coldwater 71, Harper Creek 58 Brock Thornton led Coldwater with 14 points while DeAndre Douglas had 13 points and Lu LeBron added 12 points.
Freshman— Coldwater 60, Harper Creek 42 Nate Tappenden led Coldwater with 13 points while Joe Closson, Gavin Budd and Jett Galloway all had 10 points.
The Union City Chargers won their fifth straight game on Wednesday night as they defeated the Mendon Hornets 50-32 at McNett Fieldhouse. Larson Kever recorded another double-double to lead the Chargers as he poured in 17 points and grabbed 16 rebounds. Kyle Johnson added nine points.
Union City’s record improved to 7-3.
