COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Another Coldwater area community group has stepped forward to help the Branch Area Food Pantry. The Coldwater Early Bird Exchange Club this week made a $500 donation to the pantry. The donation was made at yesterday’s Early Bird meeting with a check presented to Renate Brenneke, one of the Pantry’s 3 day managers at the facility in Coldwater.
Exchange members heard Brenneke explain the day to day operation of the pantry, which is an all-volunteer organization. It helps provide food boxes for those in need living in Branch County.
The pantry receives food donations from several local businesses and individuals as well as from school students, who conduct food drives year round.
Financial donations are also very helpful to the Pantry with the money used to purchase food from the Food Bank of South Central Michigan in Battle Creek. According to Brenneke, every dollar the pantry spends at the Food Bank buys four to six dollars worth of food.
