GILEAD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – Michigan State Police say slippery roads in Branch County Tuesday morning contributed to a car-semi injury accident in Gilead Township.
According to troopers, a woman who was driving not far from her home and alone in the vehicle was northbound on Steffey Road when her Chrysler 200 failed to stop at Southern Road and slid through the intersection. The car was struck in the back passenger side by the semi-tractor which was driven by an Algansee Township man identified by the State Police as 50-year old Chad Paul.
Troopers said the airbags in the vehicle of 47-year old Sharon McMeen deployed and they reported that she suffered apparent injuries in the collision. She was taken by Life Care Ambulance to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment.
State Police said that McMeen was issued a ticket for violating the basic speed law.
The Bronson Fire Department was dispatched to the accident and was on scene for 20 minutes after the crash was reported around 9:30 a.m. Tuesday.
