FREMONT, IN (WTVB) – Nearly a half dozen 4-H goats were lost in a barn fire south of Fremont, Indiana on Wednesday night.
Fremont Fire Department Chief Eric Hufnagle says the structure on East Peachy Road, which was owned by Ron Elliot, was destroyed in the fire. It was fully engulfed in flames when Fremont firefighters responded at about 8:00 p.m..
They got mutual aid from the Angola and Orland Fire Departments. Montgomery firefighters from Hillsdale County were called in to standby at the Fremont Fire Station.
The cause of the fire has not been officially determined but Hufnagle said it started near a heat lamp and it is being considered accidental in nature. The barn also contained horse stalls, bales of hay and a small utility trailer.
A dollar figure on the damage has not been determined. No injuries were reported.
