LANSING, MI (WTVB) – State Representative Eric Leutheuser of Hillsdale was ceremoniously sworn into his third term of office on Wednesday by Michigan State Supreme Court Chief Justice Stephen J. Markman. Leutheuser represents the 58th District, which includes Branch and Hillsdale counties.
The Michigan State Legislature held their opening session yesterday, and unity and cooperation were the themes of the day.
Members were sworn in, opening speeches were delivered and family and friends were invited to participate. Republican Speaker Lee Chatfield invited newly elected Attorney General Dana Nessel to the floor to announce their first bill will reform the state’s civil asset seizure laws to require a criminal conviction before property is taken. But the legislation is something that they already agree on, unlike no-fault reform or how to fund roads. Those are topics for another day.
