COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A long time member of the Branch County Sheriff’s Department is the latest addition to the Coldwater Police Department.
City Manager Keith Baker reported to the Coldwater City Council on Monday that Officer Al Fleming recenty joined Coldwater Police after serving 22 years as a deputy with the Sheriff’s Department.
Fleming’s last day with the county was on July 24.
Sheriff John Pollack told the Bronson City Council that Fleming’s starting hourly salary with CPD is three dollars a hour more then what he made as a deputy and according to the Sheriff, “you see why we have a problem hanging onto to staff.”
Meanwhile, Pollack said newly hired Deputy Jarrett Linley is now on patrol while the two new deputies that were approved in this years budget by County Commissioners have been hired and they began their eight week training on July 20.
