COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Downtown Development Authority was told on Wednesday morning that according to preliminary findings by architects, the former Taylor’s Stationers building can have a maximum of 22 apartments on the second and third floors.
Economic Assistant Audrey Tappenden updated the D.D.A. on the Taylor’s property along with several other economic development initiatives.
She said the estimates on the three story building at 60 West Chicago were based on what architects call “test fits”.
She added this information is a starting point and the Requests for Proposals which was released in February of 2020 has not been updated.
The Taylor’s building has been empty since the spring of 2016 when Taylor’s Stationers owners Howard and Lola Taylor retired.
The D.D.A. purchased the building in late 2019 in hopes of encouraging downtown development.
