COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Commission on Aging Executive Director Amy Duff is thanking Branch County voters for their support on Tuesday.
Voters passed on a vote of 5,716 to 2,264 a ten year renewal of a millage that was adopted in 2010 for the operation of the Burnside Senior Center. The funding will also be for building debt retirement, renovation, equipping and furnishing of the building.
The millage will raise over $360,000 during its first year.
Duff said in a statement that the passage of the renewal, “is a great affirmation that our community cares about its older residents. Branch County is not only a great place to grow up, but also a great place to grow older.”
She added they are eager to re-open the Center just as soon as it is safe to do so.
