QUINCY, MI (WTVB) – It’s the day backers of the Coldwater-Quincy Trail have been working towards for the last several years.
A ground breaking will be held at the Quincy Village Park Wednesday morning at 9:00 a.m. for the trail.
“Pints in the Park” was created to be a fundraiser for this project. The Quincy Village Council adopted the plan for the linear park in 2015.
The Quincy Rotary Club and Village of Quincy, along with Parrish Excavating will be doing the first portion of the trail this year, which will go from Brown Street to just behind the Quincy McDonalds restaurant.
Eventually, the Quincy linear trail will be linked from the trail head at the downtown Quincy park to the City of Coldwater’s existing linear trail system.
The total cost of the project is $5.7 million. It has been funded mostly through service clubs, private donations, D.N.R. grants and the Michigan Department of Transportation Alternatives Program.
