BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Six candidates are on the ballot in Tuesday’s Primary for the 58th District State House seat that has to be given up by current Representative Eric Leutheuser at the end of the year because of term limits.
The Republican race has been lively and intense with numerous media advertising buys as four candidates are vying for a spot on the November general election ballot.
Andrew Fink, Adam Stockford, Andy Welden and Daren Wiseley are all trying to be Leutheuser’s successor.
Fink is a small business owner in Hillsdale, Stockford is the Mayor of Hillsdale, Welden is a former Hillsdale County Commissioner and Wiseley is a realtor who is a former Hillsdale County assistant prosecutor.
The two Democrats on Tuesday’s ballot are Tamara Barnes of Coldwater and Steven Sowards of Hillsdale County. But Sowards announced in April he was dropping out of the race due to health concerns.
Barnes is from Coldwater is currently working as the Assistant Director for Material Culture at the Kalamazoo Valley Museum.
