BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – Thursday’s report from the United States Drought Monitor shows Branch County is part of an area that covers 53 percent of Michigan which is considered to be abnormally dry.
While the M.S.U. Extension Service weather station at the Bloom Dairy Farm west of Coldwater has measured 3.18 inches of rain for July, only 13-hundreths of an inch of rain has been measured at that location since July 16.
Two big rainfalls were measured there in July as 1.34 inches was recorded on the tenth and 1.71 inches fell six days later.
Some much needed showers are in the forecast for Sunday and Monday.
Meanwhile, areas in the tip of the thumb and in Lenawee and Monroe Counties are considered to have moderate drought conditions.
