BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – As of Wednesday, Calhoun County has a cumulative total of 593 confirmed cases of COVID-19 that have been reported to the Public Health Department with a total of 38 deaths attributed to the virus.
Ten new cases were reported on Wednesday.
Health Officer Eric Pessell reminds Calhoun County residents that this virus is unpredictable and their understanding of it continues to evolve.
Despite some earlier talk that suggested young people weren’t impacted by the virus, Pessell wants the public to know that young people can transmit it.
Pessell and the Public Health Department are working with schools on reopening plans.
The Health Department says young people should take the same precautions as adults and follow CDC recommendations.
