BATTLE CREEK, MI (WTVB) – After scoring the opening goal just seven minutes into the game, the Coldwater High Schools girls varsity soccer team couldn’t hold the lead, and fell at Battle Creek Pennfield 3-1 Thursday night.
Marissa Cox scored with 32:54 to play in the first half for the Lady Cardinals lone goal in the game, assisted by Juana Mancera.
Pennfield then scored with about three to play in the half to tie the score at 1-1. They got the winning goal with 7:05 to play in the second half, and scored an insurance goal on a penalty kick with 4:19 to play.
Taylor Robison made three saves in goal, as Pennfield outshot Coldwater 10-6.
With the loss, Coldwater falls to 1-2 in the Interstate 8 Conference and 4-5 overall. They will host Parma Western in conference action Wednesday, May 5.
