COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Tommy’s House at 50 North Clay Street in Coldwater will be reopening in the next few weeks with the help of Damascus Road Ministries with the hope it can operate as it was originally planned.
The news comes after Damascus Road Ministries opened the Freedom Recovery Center in May which was Coldwater’s first Women’s Residential Treatment Center.
Tommy’s House will serve primarily as a “step down” facility for graduates of the residential program.
Tommy’s House has been closed since last November. It opened in late 2016 as a transitional home for women released from jail who had served time for drug and alcohol offenses.
It was the brainchild of Tommy Olmstead, who served as a volunteer chaplain at the Branch County Jail and the goal of the two organizations is to fulfill the vision of the house’s namesake.
