NEW YORK, NY (WKZO AM/FM) – What is turning into yet another miserable season for the Detroit Tigers continued on Friday night as they were outclassed by the New York Yankees 10-0. Going back to the second game of a doubleheader with the White Sox on Thursday night, Detroit has been outscored in their last two games 21-0. Aaron Judge belted two homers including a grand slam and winning pitcher Gerrit Cole struck out 12. The Tigers only managed four hits as they have the worst batting average in the majors at .199. Tarik Skubal was tagged with the loss. The second game of the three game series will be on Saturday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the Tigers don’t think pitcher Matt Boyd will miss a lot of time after he was pulled from his Thursday night start against the White Sox with tendinitis in his left knee but they are still waiting for results from tests that were conducted on Friday. Manager A.J. Hinch thinks Boyd will miss next start.
