COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A request to build a five-building, 40 unit multi-family residential development at the corner of Northshore Drive and West Chicago is scheduled to come before the City of Coldwater’s Planning Commission on Monday evening.
The project on 2-point-8 acres of land is being backed by Gates Prime Commercial Group.
Construction would cost about $4.5 million and would consist of five two-story buildings with eight units in each building.
The site is presently vacant and is zoned A-3 Multi-Family Residential.
City Planner Dean Walrack says that while the plan meets all height and area regulations for such a district and will not impact the ability of adjacent sites to expand or redevelop, the submitted plan lacks key information necessary to ensure the proper functioning of its stormwater management system.
Meanwhile, the engineering firm of C2AE out of Lansing says the proposed storm water system does not comply with the City’s storm water standards and will have to be redrawn.
Also on the agenda will be a request by Coldwater Leisure, LLC to build a 2,300 square foot addition to the existing JT’s Billiard Bar and Grill at 50 East Chicago.
Walrack says in his report that the new addition will be constructed where there is a seasonal outdoor dining area next to South Hudson Street. It will contain a pizza oven and second kitchen, additional restrooms and dining seating.
The Planning Commission is also scheduled to review information in regards to the timeline and costs associated with operating Medical Marihuana Facilities and Recreational Marihuana Establishments.
