BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – National Weather Service forecasters say the heat wave which arrived in time for the holiday weekend will continue throughout the week.
The official high for Coldwater hit 90 degrees on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and things are expected to get really steamy over the next few days.
Forecasters say Heat Index readings are expected to get into the mid to upper 90s this week with some locations around 100 degrees.
High temperatures for most locations will range from the upper 80s into the low to mid 90s through Friday.
Residents are being told to practice heat safety this week.
Limit outdoor activities if possible, particularly anything strenuous.
If you plan to be outside, take frequent breaks in an air conditioned location and drink a lot of water.
In addition, do not leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle.
Any chance for showers and thunderstorms will mainly be confined to the afternoon hours.
The extended forecast says the heat wave will last at least through Friday.
