COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Board of Directors for Branch County Gay Pride has decided to cancel the rally and festival that was scheduled to take place on August 29 at Parkhurst Park in Coldwater due to COVID-19 concerns.
In a post on their Facebook page, Branch Pride said the decision was made with a heavy heart and that “the safety and health of our members and community are our top priority.”
They went onto say, “with so much uncertainty that still lingers following the recent pandemic, the Branch Pride Board of Director’s is confident that this is the best decision.”
They still plan to have small gatherings at their recently dedicated Community Resource Center including Friday Fun Nights and Pride Book Club.
While a huge public event poses too great a risk this year, they plan to have an event sometime in 2021.
