HOMER, MI (WTVB) – Homer Community Schools had to go on a lock down near dismissal time on Monday afternoon due to a man carrying weapons.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Department says deputies responded to Homer at about 2:30 p.m. to reports of a man wearing camouflage with an AR15 strapped across his chest and two pistols on his belt.
The man was reported walking downtown and in residential neighborhoods which forced the local school to be placed on lock down as it was nearly the school’s release time.
Once deputies made contact with the man, he began recording the incident saying that he was conducting a Second Amendment Audit. When deputies explained that his actions were impacting local school operations, the man cooperated and the lock down was lifted.
No other information was made available about this incident.
