JONESVILLE, MI (WTVB) – Former Hillsdale County Commissioner Andy Welden has become the fourth Republican candidate to run for the 58th District State House seat that Eric Leutheuser will have to give up due to term limits at the end of the year.
Welden will join Adam Stockford, Andrew Fink and Daren Wiseley on the G.O.P. ballot for the August primary. The winner moves onto the general election in November.
While the district covers Branch and Hillsdale Counties, there are no Branch County candidates yet.
In announcing his candidacy, Welden said he is a life-long resident of Jonesville. He ran Welden Farms for over three decades and was a Hillsdale County Commissioner for 16 years.
If elected as State Representative, Welden promises to be the “Voice of Reason” for Branch and Hillsdale counties.
