HILLSDALE, MI (WTVB) – The Hillsdale County Sheriff’s Department says a felonious assault suspect they were looking for on Tuesday morning was taken into custody just before noon.
They issued a statement at around 8:30 a.m. that 46-year-old James Raymond Gehring was being sought and that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Gehring allegedly got into a verbal confrontation with relatives after consuming alcohol just after 3:00 a.m. on Tuesday in the 1300 block of Cambria Road.
The Sheriff’s Department says he fired at least a couple of shots before leaving the residence. No injuries were reported.
A Michigan State Police helicopter was used in the search for Gehring.
He was eventually found near Austin in the southwest part of Hillsdale County and taken into custody.
