COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Coldwater Cardinals split a Interstate 8 doubleheader with Parma Western on Tuesday at Pat Lowe Field as the Cardinals won the opener 5-1 but dropped the nightcap 7-6.
Coldwater scored four runs in the first inning of the opening game to set the tone. Brynden Massey went the distance on a six-hitter to get the win in the opener as he only threw 81 pitches. Massey also helped his own cause with three RBI’s. Logan Farmer had three hits and drove in two runs.
A couple of big innings helped the Panthers come back in the second game as they scored three runs in the fourth and added four more runs in the sixth. Coldwater rallied for four in the last of the sixth but the comeback fell short. Massey had a double in the second game. He and Cole Smith both had RBI’s.
Coldwater is now 10-5 overall and 4-3 in the Interstate 8.
