BRANCH COUNTY, MI (WTVB) – There are still 584 Consumers Energy customers in Branch County who are starting the week in the dark as restoration efforts from last Wednesday’s severe weather stretch into a sixth day.
According to the Consumers Energy website’s outage page, the power is still out east of Bronson.
The outages mostly stretch from North Parham Road east to North Behnke Road and from North Snow Prairie Road east to Wheeler Road.
Calhoun County was the hardest hit county of all of the counties Consumers Energy serves. There were 639 customers out Monday morning after nearly 30,000 lost power at the height of the storm.
Consumers says 1,553 customers system wide were still without power on Monday morning.
Consumers Energy crews as well as crews from six other states worked over the weekend trying to take care of the outages.
Their efforts were slowed by the amount of damaged equipment the remnants of Tropical Storm Christobal left behind last Tuesday night and Wednesday afternoon as there were nearly 5,000 wires knocked down and over 300 poles were broken by winds of almost 70 miles an hour.
