COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – There were still a lot of utility crews in Branch County Sunday trying to take care of the last of the power outages from Wednesday’s storm.
At 3:30 pm, Consumers Energy reported 1,555 customers in Branch County were without power while outages affected 2,962 customers in Calhoun County. There were still 6,239 customers system wide who were without power Sunday afternoon.
Consumers stopped giving restoration times Saturday night after problems developed with the computer program. They issued a statement Saturday morning that all of the outages would be taken care of by the end of the day which obviously did not happen.
Damaged equipment has slowed restoration efforts. Numerous wires were knocked down and over 300 poles were broken by the 70 MPH winds.
