COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Coldwater Police say a man was fatally stabbed at around 3:00 a.m. Saturday morning at the Quality Inn on the east side of the city.
Police responded to a 9-1-1 call and found the unresponsive victim inside a motel room. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
They say a suspect fled the scene before police arrived.
Witnesses provided a description of the suspect and his vehicle, which allowed officers to broadcast a “Be On the Lookout” to other officers in the area.
Michigan State Police Troopers spotted the car on U.S. 12 near Quincy.
They took the driver into custody in connection with the stabbing.
Coldwater Police have not released the name of the victim pending notification of relatives.
Police have also not released the name of the suspect pending formal charges and arraignment.
The case is still being investigated.
