SHERWOOD TOWNSHIP, MI (WTVB) – A woman and her three year old son were injured Friday afternoon in a Sherwood Township lawnmower accident.
The accident took place on Wheatfield Drive east of Oliverda Lake just before 2:00 p.m..
Initial reports indicated a man was backing up the mower when it struck the child.
The mother saved the boy from going under the mower but not before the boy suffered injuries to his leg and buttocks while the mother lost some fingers
Both were flown by the Samaritan Helicopter to Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne. Both are expected to recover from their injuries.
The Branch County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the indicent. Michigan State Police and Sherwood Township firefighters assisted at the scene.
