COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – A sizeable crowd turned out in downtown Coldwater’s Four Corners Park on a hot and steamy Friday afternoon to peacefully protest last week’s death in Minneapolis of George Floyd while he was in police custody.
The “Unity Rally” took place in the southwest part of the park but some people who attended went across the street to north side of the park.
Many of the rally attendees held up signs. Perhaps the most poignant was held by an older woman which simply said, “Where is the love?”
Some who drove by the Four Corners honked their horns in support.
Along with music and speakers, there were nine minutes of kneeling and nine minutes of silence to represent the time Floyd was held to the ground by the Minneapolis police officer.
There were a few people who expressed their opposition including one person who brought a Confederate flag to the northeast corner of the park. There were no reported skirmishes and no arrests were made.
