COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners voted during their work session on Thursday to bring forward to next week’s regular meeting a series of bids for construction work at the new Branch County Jail.
Commissioners are scheduled to take formal action next Tuesday on low bids for such items as masonry, carpentry, roofing, wall panels, glass emblazing, general trades and fire protection.
County Administrator Bud Norman said Clark Construction was pleased the bids came in lower than expected and that there was a total difference of over $902,000 between the high bids and the recommended bids.
Commissioner Terri Norris was pleased that the Quincy company of Bracy and Jahr Contractors submitted the low bid of about $1.6 million for the masonry work.
Norman also said that despite all of the rain in the middle of May, the jail project is still on schedule to be completed in September of 2021.
