COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch County Board of Commissioners decided during their work session on Thursday to bring forward to next week’s regular meeting a formal decision to either eliminate or amend an employee travel policy that has been in place since late March due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
One of the five policies called for Branch County employees to not go outside of Michigan unless they had permission from their department head.
Administrator Bud Norman proposed changing it to allow for at least a 75 mile radius from the county.
Commission Chair Ted Gordon and other Commissioners felt such a policy is perhaps not needed now since the Stay at Home Executive Order was lifted by Governor Whitmer on Monday.
Commissioners want to get input from Community Health Agency Health Officer Rebecca Burns on the COVID-19 situation before taking formal action next Tuesday. Technical difficulties during Thursday’s work session over Zoom prevented Burns from getting into the meeting.
