COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reports a third person in St. Joseph County has died after testing positive for COVID-19.
It’s the second death in St. Joseph County that has been reported in the last two weeks.
The Community Health Agency says there have been 29 deaths in its jurisdiction since the start of the coronavirus pandemic including 24 in Hillsdale County and two in Branch County.
It’s not known if the latest St. Joseph County deaths are tied to a recent outbreak at the Iceberg Enterprises plant in Sturgis.
The C.H.A. also reported on Thursday that Hillsdale County has had the most COVID-19 cases in its jurisdiction since the outbreak began with 171 followed by St. Joseph County with 132 and Branch County with 124.
