TEKONSHA, MI (WTVB) – A Tekonsha man was ordered to serve 18 months of probation on Monday in Branch County Circuit Court after he entered a no contest plea to a charge of felonious assault.
48-year-old Byron Welch was also given a six month jail sentence which was suspended over probation.
The original charge of assault to do great bodily harm less than murder was dismissed by prosecutors.
Michigan State Police said at the time of the incident nearly a year ago that Welch got in an argument and physical confrontation with another man in Girard Township.
The victim in the case had to be taken to ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital for treatment of facial injuries.
