COLDWATER, MI (WTVB) – Just two weeks after record low temperatures were set, record highs were broken in Coldwater over the Memorial Day holiday weekend according to the website www.weatherbase.com.
The high temperature at the Branch County Memorial Airport on both Sunday and Monday was 87 degrees.
The high on Monday broke the previous record high for May 25 of 82 degrees that was set in 2012.
Sunday’s high broke the previous high temperature record of 86 degrees for May 24 that was set in 2007.
There are some years when it seems like the weather in Michigan bypasses spring.
Just two weeks ago, the record low for May 12 was tied at 32 degrees.
New record low temperatures for May 8 and 9 in Coldwater were set one week after highs got near 80 degrees.
Thanks to a blast of arctic air, the temperature at the Branch County Memorial Airport dropped to 32 degrees on May 8 which broke the previous record for the date of 36 degrees.
The mercury dropped to 27 degrees on May 9 which smashed the record low for the date of 34 degrees which was set in 2010.
